Which Herbs and Aromas Help Breast Cancer Symptoms?
Watch Diana Ross TV Interview |
- How did Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy become what they are today? Today more and more complementary therapies are being re-introduced into the healthcare industry, and those two therapies are herbal medicine and aromatherapy. Our pharmacology is based on plant extracts so why not reach back, or forward to be closer to nature or natural? Aromatherapy is well known for its affects on moods, colds, illnesses, ailments and the like.
- Which herbs/aromas help with what symptoms? Peppermint and ginger is well known for reducing nausea and stomach upset. Chamomile and hops for insomnia, green tea for antioxidants. The list goes on. Each plant brings something special to the health table. Essaic tea has so many ingredients to help prevent cancer.
- Can it help women to take preventative measures against terminal illness (such as breast cancer)? This question answers itself. Prevention is the key. Just like echinacea helps in the prevention of colds and flu. There is so much we can do through eating, applying or drinking the essence of plants especially if they are deep green.
- If so, what are some examples of herbal medicine used for prevention? Some believe a diet rich in antioxidants helps prevent cancer. Red clover is another herbal option for the prevention of cancer. It has been found to be effective in preventing the formation of tumors. Dandelion root has been recognized in that it kills melanoma cells while keeping healthy cells intact.
- Can it help to cure women already diagnosed with breast cancer? Cancer develops when cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control. Although there are many kinds of cancer, they all start because of out-of-control growth of abnormal cells.?Once you have a diagnosis of breast cancer the time is perfect to act. The cure is in the prevention but it does help with slowing down the disease and in the recovery.
- If so how? The most famous cancer herbal preparations are probably the Hoxley formula and Essiac. Many people began seeking out holistic cancer remedies in the early ‘80s when it became apparent that Western medicine was not curing cancer. The growing number of people diagnosed with cancer, became quite desperate because traditional medicine had failed them. It was then that many people sought out herbal cancer cures and other forms of natural medicine, and many people with terminal diagnosis did indeed live, curing their cancer, or living for years past the doctors’ predictions.

by Diana Ross on 12/04/12
Yes, bathing in a warm Himalayan crystal “pink salt” bath for 20+ minutes does promote deep relaxation, plus helps to detox your body too. This healthy salt bath can be considered as a complementary therapy if used with the intention to restore the body with its active 84 essential minerals and 11 trace minerals. This salt is the oldest and purest salt on the planet. It is spoken of as the “good salt.”
Your skin is known as the third kidney, or the Wei Chi and toxins are excreted through the third kidney by sweating. A detox bath, or “solay” bath is used to assist your body in eliminating toxins through the skin as well as absorbing the minerals and nutrients. Most of all, it'll leave you feeling refreshed and awakened.
Relax & Detox Bath Instructions
- Schedule this special quiet time for yourself.
- Fill Tub with hot water and melt the salt first, then add water. Not too hot please.
- Add 1 cup of “Pink Salt” aka Himalayan Salt to receive its healing benefits.

Options to Add Relaxation to Bath Time
- Mist the bath area with a “Lavender” aromatherapy hydrosol, and breathe in the beautiful therapeutic scent and relax.

Where Do You Begin Yoga?
by Diana Ross on 10/30/12
Where Do You Begin?
Not everyone is disciplined enough to do their yoga at home and others thrive with a home routine. There are some easy suggestions on how to start a yoga practice with this understanding of differences. Start slow, make sure you create a practice that can grow as you regain strength and stamina.
- Find a place at home that is quiet and well ventilated.
- Set a time each day or every other day that encourages a routine.
- Find a competent yoga teacher that teaches to the cancer community or a special breast cancer yoga DVD.
- Dress comfortably, there should be no constriction for the breath.
- Eat a light breakfast at least a hour beforehand.
It does get easier, and it is important to manage a self care practice. One of the many benefits of yoga therapy is that the practice awakens positive emotions, builds self-confidence and reduces depression. There is an openness of spirit that leads to greater understanding when the practice of yoga is embraced. This all can be achieved but there must be determination and fortitude.
Yoga Can Be a Lot of Fun
Enjoy every deep, slow breath while moving your arms, legs and torso. It is so important to evenly pace the movement with the breath. The breath is key to your wellness. It too balances the mind, body and spirit. It is the cosmic gas station. “If the mind wanders the breath will follow.” Take it slow, take a big conscious breath, come into the present moment and just Be.

Yoga Decreases Stress Hormones
by Diana Ross on 10/30/12
- GABA is a major inhibitory neurotransmitter chemical in the brain.
- GABA is responsible for balancing mood levels. It is believed that certain physical reaction disorders are due to the failure to produce adequate levels of GABA.
- Through brain imaging it has been shown that a restorative yoga practice increases GABA levels markedly.
- When GABA levels are maintained with breast cancer patients, physical stamina increases. Daily activities like climbing stairs, walking and doing the laundry become easier compared with those that don’t engage in a yoga practice or exercise.
- GABA is very important for sustained recovery and optimal health.
The proper balancing of the physical, and then emotional body are key to recovery, and good health. We need both but they need to be in balance, and yoga works directly at balancing them.
